Street fashion is funny because the second someone tries too hard to be cool, you can feel it. That’s probably the first rule: don’t look like you dressed for approval. The best style always feels like it happened naturally, even when you know it didn’t. It has attitude, but it’s not begging for attention. It says something before you do.
For me, street fashion is about movement. It has to work when you’re walking through the city, running to the studio, sitting backstage, dancing in a club, or standing outside at 2 a.m. with your friends laughing about something stupid. If an outfit only works when you’re posing, it’s not really street fashion. It’s just styling.
What’s cool? Personality. Contrast. Clothes that look lived in. A jacket with history. Sneakers that have actually touched pavement. Something oversized with something sharp. Something feminine with something rough. Something expensive mixed with something random you found, borrowed, stole from a friend, or refused to throw away.
Cool is when you can see the person through the outfit.
What’s not cool? Looking like a full mannequin. Wearing every trend at once. Dressing like an algorithm. Outfits that feel copied, perfect, polished and empty. When everything is too clean, too matched, too planned — it loses the fun.
Street fashion should have a little chaos in it.
Stockholm has its own version of that. People here can be minimal, controlled and quiet on the surface, but then you catch the details: the weird sunglasses, the heavy shoes, the one aggressive accessory, the jacket that makes the whole outfit feel dangerous. I like that. I like when style doesn’t scream, but still makes you look twice.
For Rebel Exo, fashion is part of the sound. We come from club music, rap energy, breakbeats, late nights and city streets. So the clothes have to carry that same feeling. They need rhythm. They need confidence. They need humor. They need to feel like we could walk straight from the studio to a club, from a club to a fight, from a fight to breakfast, and still look like ourselves.
I don’t think fashion has to be perfect. Actually, I prefer when it’s not.
Smudged eyeliner can be cooler than perfect makeup. Messy hair can be better than polished hair. A weird silhouette can be more interesting than something flattering. The best looks have a little bit of “I don’t care” and a little bit of “I know exactly what I’m doing.”
That balance is everything.
So what’s cool right now?
Being real. Being specific. Wearing clothes like they belong to your life, not just your feed. Mixing street and club. Mixing old and new. Taking something ugly and making it work. Looking like you have somewhere to go, even if you don’t.
And what’s not?
Trying to look rich instead of interesting.
Street fashion was never supposed to be about looking expensive. It’s about identity. Energy. Survival. Confidence. It’s about the city and the people moving through it. It’s about attitude.
If you can wear it, live in it, dance in it, laugh in it, ruin it a little, and still feel like yourself — that’s cool.
Everything else is just clothes.
